QT Education has been approached to recruit a qualified English teacher for a mixed gender secondary school with academy status located in the West area of Bristol.  Graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2021.

Role:

  • To ensure high quality curriculum provision within the curriculum area of English
  • Alongside DoF, tailor the curriculum to include methodology to achieve dept. priorities
  • Drop ins and work scrutiny to ensure that the curriculum is being delivered effectively
  • Alongside DoF liaise with the external agencies e.g. exam board / OCL NLP to arrange additional CPD sessions for teachers
  • Alongside DoF and Best Outcomes Lead to ensure that the academic year’s curriculum is mapped out in advance and assessment and data points are in line with the academy calendar
  • To ensure that all resources including lessons, printing and texts are available in good time before the next term and available to all staff in advance
  • Arrange the downloading and printing of end of term assessments for Y7-11 to ensure they are available for teachers to use in the last week of every term
  • To create units of work and lessons where necessary when needed in good time, including bespoke revision resources which utilise the dept. methodology
  • Coordinate, monitor and quality check all adaptations of existing unts of work to ensure they are of the best quality and are fully aligned with dept. methodology and priorities
  • Work with the Director of Faculty to manage homework within the department to ensure it is accessible and meaningful
  • Work with the Best Outcomes Lead, DoF to ensure marking opportunities are embedded in the curriculum and clearly marked
  • Clearly mapping out agreed curriculum plans for all staff that are accessible and easy to follow and implement and inform and record co-planning meetings
  • Ensure there are extra-curricular opportunities available for students within the English department – e.g. a club is run, activities are planned for

Experience, Qualifications and Training:

  • We seek a qualified and enthusiastic teacher of English
  • Must have QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)

Eligibility to work in a teaching role:

  • Holds Right to Work in the UK
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
  • Enhanced DBS certificate which is either on the online ‘Update Service’ or be willing to apply for a new DBS certificate

Suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process.  As part of the shortlisting process an online search will be carried out.  All appointments will be subject to vetting, including an enhanced DBS check.  It is an offence to apply for a role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
